Evans vs Ortiz 2 Predictions:
Rashad Evans is facing Tito Ortiz on UFC 133 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Well, this is kind of a tough call. But let’s go from the very start. If you think that Tito Ortiz is coming back, I’m not so sure about it. Imean, yes, he did win a fight against Ryan Bader, but you can hardly tell anything about his current position, since that fight was very short. You can however, compare this fight with the Hamill vs Ortiz. Matt Hamill is quite a similar fighter to Rashad Evans (only Evans has a lot better stand up in my opinion).
This fight can go into either direction, but let’s dissect this into bits:
Stand Up: First of all, I think no one would ever deny that Rashad Evans has a better stand up game. In fact, Tito’s stand up is below average for the light heavyweight division. Rashad is generally a wrestler, but his stand up game is ever improving. If Rashad manages to control this fight on feet, he should have no problems with winning via unanimous decision. You can also count on the fact that he is going to try to take Ortiz out while on feet. Rashad has some devastating hooks in his arsenal. The best way for Tito to get out of the stand up game (since he has no chances here) is to confuse Rashad with hooks which translate into takedown attempts.
Ground: Well, both of the fighters are great on the ground, and I think that both of them will try to be on top. Having a wrestler facing the ground with his back is always a good thing if you’re the opponent. Tito, when he was in his prime, had one of the most devastating ground and pound techniques in the world of MMA. Who wouldn’t remember those devastating elbows? But, I’d give a slight advantage to Evans here as well, simply because of the fact that we don’t know if Tito is back in his prime yet. Rashad is a very athletic fighter and he also ha great wrestling. If he gets on top of Tito, he can finish this fight quickly. I’d question Rashad’s chin though. He shouldn’t allow Tito to land any of those defensive punches.
Clinching: Rashad is definitely a stronger guy here. His athleticism will allow him to push Ortiz off the fence and work him out from there. I think that this fight won’t be a clinchfest since they will both try to take each other down.
Conclusion: If everything goes well, Rashad should win this fight via unanimous decision. Since he’s been out of the ring for more than 18 months I don’t think that he’ll be able to finish this fight. There are a few key points that might lead Ortiz to victory though. First of all, as I already have mentioned, Rashad hasn’t fought for more than 18 months. Second of all, Greg Jackson is no longer his trainer, and I’m curious to see how this will affect his performance. Tito has a heart of the warrior, and his performance largely depends on his hunger. Rashad is more of a martial artist. With all that said, I think Rashad will win this fight. We’ll just have to watch the Ortiz vs Evans 2 !
Evans vs Ortiz 2 Odds:
I’d say that Rashad has a 70% chance of winning this fight, while Tito has a 30% chance.

I agree, this fight should go to Rashad. Although, I dunno, this might be the turning point in Tito’s career, and he knows it. That’s why I think that we will give his all out to prove to the naysayers that he still has it. Nice writeup btw.
