Leben vs Stann Fight Predictions:

Chris Leben will face Brian Stann in a co-main event of the UFC 125 on January the 1st (MGM Grand). The main event will be the Edgar vs Maynard, for the title of the UFC lightweight champion. You can also watch Edgar vs Maynard Fight Video Trailers, preview, review and prediction here.

Okay, basically, we have 2 very tough guys here in the game. First of all, I’m not expecting this fight to last. Maybe one or two rounds max. This is a very tough fight for both guys, but I’m going to have to give the advantage to Chris Leben.

Chris Leben has always been one of those bad boys, just like Josh Koscheck. The difference is that Leben has really something to back this up. I mean, he’s never been knocked out except by Anderson Silva.  His chin is indestructible. Remember the fight between Leben and Akiyama? This was, for me, one of the best fights I’ve seen in a long, long time. What I’m trying to say is that Brian Stann simply can’t expect this fight to be a stand up clash. He will get destroyed by Leben. The thing with Chris is, even when you are winning the stand up exchange (or at least you’re thinking you are), he will simply smile at your face indicating that you haven’t even damaged him. You cant K.O. this guy, but he can, and will K.O. you in turn. The only exception to this rule is Anderson Silva, but Brian Stann is not Anderson Silva.

On the other side of the octagon, we have Brian Stann, the former WEC lightheavyweight champion, and a former marine. This guy is simply one of the nicest, kindest and honorable people I’ve ever seen in MMA. You can watch the interview with Brian Stann below to see what I’m talking about. I don’t see him winning this fight though. He’s currently 3-2 in the UFC and doesn’t have that much to lose (he does, just not as much as Chris Leben). However, I’ve heard that Stann is focusing on his ground game as of recently, and maybe he can take Leben down and do something on the ground. We just can’t forget that Leben has subbed Akiyama, who is a very  technical fighter on the ground also.

We’ll see how this fight goes. All in all, I think that this is going to be a fight of the night, one of the guys is going to sleep, and I’d put more money that this will be a good night sleep for Brian Stann.

Leben vs Stann Full Fight Review:

Wow, this was a surprise for me. Even though I’ve noticed that Chris Leben is talking very slowly I didn’t think that this is a consequence of a much deeper thing inside of him. He was very slow this fight, and not even his iron chin could have saved him. Brian Stann put up a great show. This is how the fight basically went on:

ROUND 1: Both Leben and Stann started without any one of these two guys trying to take down one another, which was pretty much expected. For half of a minute they were testing each other out when suddenly an open clash started in the second half of the first minute. None of them actually won that clash, but Stann decided to clinch and push Leben on to the fence. After one minute of back and forth fence domination, Stann decides to pull off and the fight starts off from the center again. Here another fist clash starts and Stann manages to land an overhand right which puts Leben down on the floor. However, Leben manages to get back on his feet and closes a distance for a bit trying to recover. After a few shots back and forth Stann manages to hit a knee on Lebens face and Leben once again falls down. Stann tries to finish him with a flurry of blows, and the referee doesn’t have any other options but to stop the fight, since Leben is not capable to defend himself actively anymore.

This was a pretty much short fight with an expected result, but unexpected winner. I’m glad that Brian Stann backed his talk up, proving that he is tough and that he can comfortably exchange shots with Chris Leben. But as I have already mentioned above, I don’t think that Chris Leben was at his full capacity, at least it didn’t look like he was. His hands were notably slower than before and his slow talk before the fight triggered my thoughts that maybe something is wrong here. All props to Brian Stann after all!

I wanna hear what you guys think. Do you think that Stann won this fight because he is superior to Chris Leben, or because Leben just wasn’t himself this fight night?
