Lesnar vs Overeem Fight Predictions and Odds:

This is definitely an exciting match up for me. The main reason for this is the fact that neither of these 2 MMA fighters are strongly favored by anyone in the MMA community. I’ve been reading the various MMA sites for the past few days, and the general thought is that this fight could go in both directions. That’s why I’m going to split this prediction into 3 sections: Stand up, grappling and ground game. Keep in mind that there are no 100% predictions. That’s why you have to be careful if you bet. I’m only trying to help you by giving out my opinion on this fight. In the end, watching the Lesnar vs Overeem fight video will be your safest bet :) .

Stand up: The stand up is definitely the domain of Alistair Overeem. For such a heavy guy, his Muay Thai is superb ( I know that because I’ve trained Muay Thai for 4 years). Brock Lesnar has always had problems with strikers, and I don’t think that this fight will be any different. I also know that a lot of people have said how Brock has a weak chin, but you have to remember that this is the heavyweight division; one punch to the face, basically from anyone, can mean, and often means – lights out. Brock Lesnar definitely has to be careful. He should not try to keep this fight at distance, because he will simply lose. One other problem for Lesnar is the fact that he hasn’t fought for a year. Not getting punched that long can often mean that your chin becomes even weaker. Brock should definitely try to take Alistair Overeem as soon as possible, without gassing out.

Grappling: Grappling, or wrestling, has always been one of Brock’s specialties. Brock Lesnar definitely has the advantage here, because he is physically a stronger fighter. I know this statement could be debatable, but I really do think that clinching wise, Brock should win every time. HOWEVER! We should never underestimate the clinching of a Muay Thai fighter. Knees do hurt, and the technique for closing your elbows (which are pressed against the opponents neck) with your knees by using the weight of your opponent –  is deadly. No matter how strong Lesnar is, it will be very difficult for him not to get hit by those knees. However, I see the grappling aspect only as transition for Brock. He will definitely want to take Overeem down as soon as possible.

Ground: I don’t even have to mention that Brock has the advantage here. If he get’s on top of anybody, he will win. Not only because of his sheer strength, but also because of the fact that he is a heavy guy, and weight tires your opponent down. Also, I think that Overeem’s wrestling and ground game in general could be much better. If Brock gets into the position for a ground and pound, he will either TKO him, or submit him. However, since I believe the both of these guys have pretty weak cardio (well, Brock not that much, but his muscle mass gasses him out quickly), they both have to be very careful not to over commit to a situation. Imagine Brock  comiting to finishing the fight quickly, only to gas himself out (if Overeem survives of course).

To me, although I can’t give you a definite winner on this one, this is a fairly pretty straightforward match up. We have a striker against a wrestler, only this time, both of them are huge in mass, and can gas out quickly. I think the fight will favor Brock more as it goes on, but he will definitely need to survive the initial onslaught of Overeem.

If I had to give out the winner, it would be Brock Lesnar. He will defeat Alistair Overeem with a submission in the third round. Overall, the odds would favor Brock 55:45, at least that’s what I think.

Lesnar vs Overeem Fight Updates:

December 20th – Today, I’ve found out that Alistair Overeem actually passed the drug test and that the Lesnar vs Overeem fight is definitely on. That’s good news for UFC fans, because, as you all know, the fight was hanging on a rope ever since the Nevada state athletic commission ordered Overeem to take the drug test once again.

Lesnar vs Overeem fight predictions by UFC fighters – Video:

December 21st - I’ve found an interesting video, where lots of UFC stars (such as Melvin Guillard, Carlos Condit and Jake Shields) predict the fight for you. Although the majority of fighters are still insisting that Overeem will win, some of the opinions are actually smart. See the video for yourself below:

Lesnar vs Overeem UFC Undisputed 3 Fight Video Simulation:

December 22nd – Okay, I really have to be honest: I’m not a huge fan of fight simulations on UFC Undisputed video game series. But since I saw this video today, I kinda got interested in it. Basically, THQ (the company that made the game), simulated 25 fights and came out with average results. What happened is that Alistair Overeem won 13 matches and Lesnar won 12 of them. In 92 percent of matches that Overeem won, he won by a KO. In 2 matches out of 12 that Brock won, he won via an arm triangle. This video is definitely interesting to watch, so O’m posting it below.

Brock Lesnar vs Alistair Overeem – UFC Undisputed 3 Prediction (Official)

UFC 141: This is gonna be BIG:

December 24th – There is a new video published by UFC about the Lesnar vs Overeem fight. Iz’s a very interesting one. Basically, it compares the combined weight of Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem with other things and people in life. So, you might be interested in the fact that both of these guys are as heavy as 5 octagon girls or 1/2 of a real car. Check the video HERE.

Countdown to UFC 141: Lesnar vs Overeem – Video:

December 25th- I just watched an incredible Countown to UFC 141: LEsnar vs Overeem video. The producers at UFC really made this video with fans in mind. Basically, you will see a bit of a personal life of both of these fighters, as well as their journey to the fight on December 30th. Brock’s story focuses on his battle with diverticulitis, while Alistair’s is more focused on his weight division change and his title-holding at Dream, Strikeforce and K-1. Be sure to watch this video below before you watch the actual Lesnar vs Overeem fight video.

Alistair Overeem Media Workout Video:

December 28th – MMA fighting just posted a workout for media by Alistair Overeem video. Although you can’t see a lot about the actual fight, I can say that his punches were slick and that he was in a great mood (you’ll see why if you watch the video to the very last second :) ). Alistair is looking really scary, and I just might rewrite my predictions :) . I’m just kidding, but if I had to warn Brock about something, it would be to avoid striking with this guy and attempt a very fast take down, without much blow exchanging. You can watch the workout video here.

UFC 141 Pre-fight press conference video:

December 30th – Okay, I just watched the pre fight conference video on Youtube, and I have to say that it was pretty boring. Especially the questions that were asked by the press. Brock Lesnar didn’t give any extensive answer, and all the answers by Alistair Overeem were “I am ready to fight”. If you want to, you can watch the whole video, but I would skip to the questions by fans.

UFC 141: Lesnar vs Overeem Weigh-in full video:

December 30th – Okay, so UFC finally released the weigh- in video of the UFC 141 event. The most notable moments are definitely Nate Diaz being a pound too heavy (I don’t know if he made it, but he had an hour to lose 1 pound… he probably did it), and the Brock Lesnar showoff. The face offs were pretty dull, but if you’re  a UFC fan, check the weigh-in video above. Only a couple of hours before UFC 141 starts. I’m definitely excited to see if Brock Lesnar wins as I predicted.

Lesnar vs Overeem Full Fight Coverage:

ROUND 1: Well, this was a pretty disappointing fight for me. Brock Lesnar didn’t show anything in this fight. Basically, the fight lasted for 2 minutes with Brock Lesnar being a punching bag for Alistair Overeem. Alistair simply crushed Brock by precise punches to his body. Kinda like reminds me of the fight between Cro Cop and Bob Sapp in K1. Alistair Overeem wins by a TKO in the first round!

I think you’re right about Brock winning this fight. Lots of kids predicting it will be easy for Alistair. I just hope that Lesnar doesnt get caught by some early BS like against Velasquez… all in all, a good preview of the fight. Keep it up!!!

Yeah, the fact is that we really don’t know how can Overeem even cope in UFC. It’s been proven that the UFC is another world (take Shields as an example).

This is the time for Overeem to shine. Although I could see it from the Countdown video that that Brock is finally healthy, and he kinda looks like he is unstoppable. I just hope that Reem doesn’t underestimate Brock, and that he wins this title too! It’s gonna be epic! Can’t wait for the fight TBH.

This fight is big, and it is definitely worth breaking down and ordering it in HD. I am a die-hard for the sport so I always watch UFC in HD through DISH because of the clarity I get in the picture, and because I can create my own instant replays with my DVR. Lesnar looks healthy and he is definitely showing the grit that most UFC fighters have and Overeem lacks. One of my co-workers at DISH thinks that if Overeem gets in just one good punch or knee (a lot like the simulation) then it is all over. I do not think that Overeem is going to be able to keep up his speed now that he has gained so much mass; Lesnar is definitely taking this fight in round 3.

I don’t know about that; he seems to like his weight now. Although, after watching the Countdown to UFC 141 video, I have to say that the Alistair Overeem of the Pride are and this one are like completly different people. I wonder how you can gain so much mass and look so good without taking steroids in?

Only a few more hours left. I’m so excited to see this fight. I’m kinda happy about it not being a 3 round slug fest (I think it’s impossible for their body mass), but I’m also kinda sad that it’ll all probably be over in one round lol. What do you guys think, who’s gonna win? Your last predictions!
